I've had the Associated RC-18T - 1/18th scale mini truck for several months now and I really like it. I set up a track in my backyard and my 6-year old daughter and I love to bash around the track. She is driving my old Losi Mini-T and is getting pretty good. She loves my RC-18T because it is faster but she needs a bit more practice first.
For the past few months I left the RC 18 truck stock as it came out of the box. I did mess with the shock pre-load and a few other tweaks but other this I have been running the RTR RC-18T completely stock.
There are a few areas I'like to improve on so I will be working on a few mods to make the truck a bit more reliable, have better handling and a bit more power. I am not the guy who wants the 60-mph RC-18 although I know that guys have done it! I want better drivability and more power. My backyard track is 60X25 feet or so and wicked fast speed just wont work.
So, here are some of my Associated RC 18T planned Upgrades and Mods:
- Fix the sloppy steering
- Titanium Turnbuckles/tierods
- Stronger spring on the servo saver
- Power
- Mamba 5400 brushless setup.
- 2-cell LiPoly 1800 for more runtime.
I have a whole list of other cool stuff I can do but these should get the truck to the next level.
