I've been using the JR XS3 Pro for a few years now. In fact, it came out in 2003 and while it is a couple of years old at this point, and not the trendy 2.4GHz that is popular now but the 75MHz frequency spectrum, it is still fine for surface use and the adjustability of the radio has made it perfect for every thing from my HPI Micro RS4s, to an Associated TC4, to an Associated T4 and finally in my Tamiya CR-01 Rock Crawler. A bonus to this being a 75Mhz radio is that you can get a top-notch radio at a reasonable price. I've seen this radio new for well under $200 and on eBay used for even less.

From JR, here is more info about this radio.

JR’s new XS3 Pro is an incredible combination of synthesized signal simplicity and an outstanding list of features. Using synthesized signal processing, the XS3 Pro allows racers to dispense with crystals and adjust their system’s signal to whatever frequency the track environment requires. No longer will racers have to sit out a heat because someone else shares the same channel. They can simply tune in an unused frequency and race on.

Key Features

  • Synthesized PLL Channel Selection via software
  • Easy-to-read LCD graphics display
  • 10 Model memory (4 more than XS3)
  • New lighter and smaller RS310 JR Receiver comes standard
  • Throttle Deadband Adjustment. Similar to the R-1 radio's 'Quick Throttle' feature, this feature eliminates the backlash of mechanical throttle linkages in gas cars.
Detailed Information

Along with this sophisticated synthesized signal technology, the XS3 Pro features all the outstanding programming functions that users of the XS3 have come to know and love. This includes multipoint throttle curves, dual-rate steering, exponential and many other tuning options. The XS3 Pro also retains the separate button for use with nitro trucks that have reversible transmissions, such as the Traxxas T-Maxx.

The XS3 Pro, however, does differ from its predecessor in a few notable areas. The most noticeable of these is the silver metallic finish that really stands out at the track. JR® has also replaced the stock RS300 synthesized receiver with the newly designed RS310. The RS310 possesses all the same precision as the RS300, only it’s smaller and much easier to mount. There are even a few ergonomic touches that make the XS3 Pro more comfortable to use, like an adjustable throttle trigger, grip pad and momo-style steering wheel.

Each XS3 Pro system includes one Z590M metal gear servo and one Z270 servo and is available in 75MHz.
