If you are specifically interested in  RC sailplanes and RC soaring, this is a good primer, and it is FREE!

The RCSD Team has prepared a guide entitled "Getting Started in RC Soaring." The guide (revised 29 March 2004) covers easy to build and fly RC planes, what radio will likely work best for the beginner (and why), getting started costs, suppliers, sources and additional resources.

Covering both slope soaring and thermal flight the guide has a list of resources for more learning.

If you're considering giving this hobby a try, we warn you: this hobby can be so addicting, that once you experience its magic, you'll be hooked for life!

"Getting Started in RC Soaring" makes a great handout at the flying field - give it to anyone who asks "Can I do that?" or "How much does it cost?" or "Where can I get one?"

We encourage everyone to freely reproduce this handout!
